Overview
Maltopia is a verified digital reference platform built to connect the traditional heritage of Indonesia—specifically Topeng Malangan—with modern technology.
The product addresses two recurring problems at once: the lack of accessible digital cultural documentation, and the challenge of engaging younger audiences with traditional arts. It was built for a national cultural technology competition hosted by Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture (BudayaGo).
My Role & Pitch
I worked as the web developer for the project.
One of the highlights of the project was presenting it live before a national judging panel that included the Vice Minister of Culture, alongside two notable cultural leaders. It was an opportunity to defend the architecture, execution, and cultural relevance of the platform at a national level.

- Cultural AI Assistant: Conversational AI guide powered by Gemini to answer heritage queries naturally.
- 3D Mask Visualizations: Interactive 3D model rendering powered by Three.js allowing users to inspect Topeng Malangan details from any angle.
- Interactive Story Archives: Structured narratives detailing legendary tales like Panji Asmorobangun and Sekartaji.
- Cultural Map & Event Agenda: Location discovery for local cultural centers, dance studios, and upcoming performances.
